Moldova’s native grapes at a glance
These wines are made from local and regional grape varieties closely associated with Moldovan wine, from traditional Fetească and Rară Neagră to aromatic Viorica, developed in Moldova in 1969.
- Fetească Neagră – deep, velvety reds with black cherry, plum and a hint of spice.
- Rară Neagră – lighter, silky reds with red berries, often compared to Pinot Noir.
- Fetească Albă and Fetească Regală – fresh, floral whites and elegant sparkling wines.
- Viorica – an aromatic Moldovan white with notes of lime blossom and peach.
